A look today at Malaysia and Singapore. Lots and lots of finance/econ AGAIN in Singapore which is certainly not my strongest area, but very interesting nonetheless. And in Malaysia, I’m keeping an eye on PAS’s response to the conflict in Israel-Palestine. A quick update at the top on haze which will continue to be a story for the coming weeks.Â

💨🔥 Haze hits Singapore as Malaysia struggles
After we talked about haze potentially reaching Singapore last week, it hit the city over the weekend. I don’t want to get too deep into the why because (bar the pandemic years) we do it annually and it’s always the same: Reuters has great reporting on it here though and Straits Times put its graphics team to work on this excellent look at why it reaches Singapore.Â
Expect it to continue for a while yet, Malaysia’s Meteorological Department warns. Monsoon should hit towards the end of the month extinguishing much of the hotspots, but for now, mask up and keep the windows closed.Â
